Crvena Zvezda BEOGRAD suffered tonight its fourth consecutive defeat in Pool F of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women, this time edged by Dinamo MOSCOW of Russia with the score of 1:3 (26-24, 18-25, 16-25, and 20-25). With this result the side from Russia’s capital city has improved its record to 3 wins and 1 defeat so far in the competition, thereby asserting its intention to fight with Lokomotiv BAKU for first place in the group.

Lokomotiv BAKU powered on Wednesday to a splendid home win in straight sets over Dinamo MOSCOW (25-20, 25-18, and 25-13) to extend its positive streak in Pool F of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League – Women after edging last week the Serbian ladies of Crvena Zvezda in Beograd. Lokomotiv has five points out of two matches and it currently tops the charts of that preliminary group.

Svetlana Ilic, the Serbian-born mentor of Volero ZURICH and of the Swiss women’s national team, is about to move to Russia to coach there the world-class side of Dinamo MOSCOW. After the premature death of head coach Sergey Ovchinnikov, Dinamo started searching for a mentor, contacted Volero to sign Ilic and this move was eventually accepted by the Swiss club.

Tokyo, Japan, May 27, 2012. Two more European teams, Russia and Serbia, have joined the starting field of the women’s Olympic tournament coming up later this summer in London after the very last stage of the qualification process was completed on Sunday at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. The 2010 world champions of Russia and last year’s European gold medalists of Serbia compose, together with Italy (winner of the 2011 FIVB World Cup) and Turkey (winner of the European Olympic qualifier held some weeks ago in Ankara), a contingent of four and with the addition of hosts Great Britain, Europe stands out as the continent with the largest representation at the Olympics.
