Dynamo CEO Vladimir Zinichev explained the reasons for the change of the head coach

The general director of the Dinamo women's volleyball club (Moscow), Vladimir Zinichev, in an interview with Match TV, explained the reasons for the change of the head coach of the team.

On Tuesday, Dinamo announced that Konstantin Ushakov replaced Zeljko Bulatovich as head coach. Serbian Bulatovich has been in charge of Dinamo since January 30, 2020, under his leadership the team became the silver medalist of the championship and the Cup of Russia in the 2020/21 season.

- With all the huge advantages and strengths possessed by Zeljko Bulatovic, there were certain moments when our team, seemingly well-tuned for the match and normally leading the game, ceased to be manageable. In particular, we can recall the final of the last Russian championship, when we led 2-0 and 23:21 in the third set and lost. And many matches this season also highlighted this trend—" Zinichev told Match TV.

— Why did you choose Konstantin Ushakov?

- Bulatovich gave the team a lot, and first of all in the training process. There were no complaints in this regard, the players tried their best. But in the games there were such moments, I would even say, failures, which eventually affected the result. In our club, the main idea is the following: the main goal of all our work is the result of the team. And this applies not only to players and coaches, but also to management, accounting, and personnel. If there is no result, all our other efforts are just a process. There is no result, so we need to adjust something.

With the appearance of Ushakov in our team, we pin certain hopes in this regard. Konstantin Anatolyevich himself played at a high level, was a binder, which is very important. We hope that our binders will add to it. Ushakov knows our whole team, he will not have to swing in this regard. He worked with many players in Krasnodar, in the Russian national team. As the coach of the Super League team, he has repeatedly analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of our players in preparation for matches with our team. He is 51 years old, the most able-bodied age. He is a purposeful person, persistent, persistent.

— How wide was the list of candidates for the position of Dinamo head coach?

- There were offers, but I didn't even consider other specialists. I considered only the candidacy of Konstantin Ushakov. The decision on his appointment was made collectively at the highest level of the leaders of our club. Of course, we cannot be satisfied with the current eighth place in the Russian Championship standings. This is not what we expected. Yes, our squad has changed a lot this season, but I would not say that we have formed a team, despite the fact that the players are assembled at a fairly high level. The number one task for Ushakov is to form a combat-ready team that would feel both motivation and responsibility for the result, and would be ready to fight for the fulfillment of the tasks set for this season.

— For how long did you sign a contract with Ushakov?

- The contract is valid until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Dynamo, with two wins in five matches, takes eighth place in the Russian championship.
